Paving the Way

A Message from Rebecca

At Geeks for Kids, we spend a lot of time talking about mobility — the ability to move, explore and play. We also talk a lot about love — the love our team brings to each project, every new build and any challenge that comes our way.

In March, we are launching our Acts of Love Campaign, a community-powered crowdfunding effort rooted in one simple belief: small acts can create life-changing impact for kids with mobility limitations.

An Act of Love can look like many things. For our team, it looks like designing and building custom adaptive devices, problem-solving in the workshop and showing up on Delivery Day ready to celebrate a child’s first ride.

This campaign feels especially important right now. Our team is building the next generation of adaptive cars — reimagining design, expanding customization and pushing innovation so that more kids with mobility challenges can experience independence in ways that better meet their unique needs.

Through this campaign, we are inviting families, schools, classrooms, clubs, faith communities and individuals to promote inclusion and access for kids with mobility challenges, and raise funds that will directly support mobility equipment and resources through Geeks for Kids.

What makes this campaign especially meaningful to me is that it’s not just about fundraising. It’s about building understanding. It’s about teaching empathy. It’s about helping communities see mobility challenges not as something to “fix,” but as something to support with respect and love.

For you, it could mean learning more about mobility inclusion, clearing a pathway or advocating for accessibility. Every Act of Love moves us closer to a world in which kids with mobility limitations are fully included and celebrated. I have seen what happens when a community comes together around a child. I have watched kids experience independence on a Delivery Day and seen families feel joy as they watch their kids take their first ride. Those moments are made possible because people choose to care — to love.

As we launch this campaign in the coming weeks, my hope is that you will join us. Perform an Act of Love. Raise funds for mobility devices. Share your journey. And know that every step you take is helping a child move, play and find independence.

With gratitude and hope,
Rebecca Kidwell

The Power of Delivery Day

For families in the Geeks for Kids community, Delivery Day is never just a pickup. It’s the moment months — sometimes years — of waiting, hoping and dreaming finally turn into reality. It’s both final fitting, training and testing, and a celebration of the start of a new era of exploration in each child’s life. Delivery Day represents freedom, independence and pure joy.

When a child climbs into their custom car for the first time, something incredible happens. They are no longer watching from the sidelines. They are moving under their own power, exploring their world and experiencing a sense of control that many have never had before. Smiles stretch wide, parents tear up, and the room fills with cheers and laughter.

Delivery Day can be emotional. It’s a reminder that their child’s abilities are being celebrated — not limited. It’s a glimpse into new possibilities: family walks where everyone moves together, outdoor play that feels effortless and everyday moments that suddenly feel more inclusive.

These cars don’t just change how a child gets around — they change how a family experiences life together.

Take our friend Brecklynn. She entered the world early and has faced extraordinary challenges ever since. Born with multiple congenital abnormalities, she cannot sit up, crawl, speak or cry because of the trach that helps her breathe.

But Brecklynn has a superpower. She draws people in with her bright spirit and playful determination, always finding ways to connect and keep everyone around her on their toes.

On her Delivery Day, she found a new way to engage with the world and her family. Brecklynn received her adaptive car — giving her the freedom to move, explore and play for the very first time.

This is the power of mobility. This is the power of love in action.

Delivery Days remind us why we do what we do. They are proof that dreams don’t have to wait — they can roll forward, one joyful ride at a time.

Because of you, our kids are on the moveImpact Drivers

Love Moves Us

One powerful way to do that is through our Acts of Love Campaign —  a community-powered fundraising initiative, launching in March, that invites individuals, families, classrooms and communities to turn compassion into action. Whether it’s hosting a small fundraiser, rallying friends, sharing our mission or choosing to give, Acts of Love provides a simple but meaningful way for anyone to create real impact for kids with mobility limitations.

At Geeks for Kids, impact doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people choose to show up. They choose to turn compassion into action. They choose to love.

Impact Drivers are the parents who show up every day for their kids. The teachers who turn lessons into learning with purpose. The friends who share our mission and invite others to join. They are people who take action to expand our mission and make adaptive equipment possible.

When you become an Impact Driver through the Acts of Love Campaign, you help fuel real change. You help raise critical funds that make adaptive equipment possible. You help create moments of independence. You help ensure that all kids are included and celebrated.

Being an Impact Driver doesn’t require a title, a platform or a big gesture. Through Acts of Love, it can be as simple as taking one meaningful step and inviting others to do the same. Small actions, when connected to a shared purpose, have the power to drive lasting impact.

Will you be an Impact Driver?

Our Acts of Love Campaign launches very soon — and we can’t wait to share how you can turn compassion into action. Stay tuned, get ready and prepare to lead with love.

Ready, Set, Spring!

Even if winter has not quite loosened its grip yet, spring is right around the corner and that means it’s time to start thinking about your child’s ride. Just like we tidy up our homes this time of year, your child’s car can benefit from a little seasonal check-in too.

Is it time for a tune-up or upgrade?

When a car — big or small — spends the winter parked in the garage or isn’t used regularly, a little spring check can go a long way. Kid-sized cars, just like cars for adults, can develop small issues after months of sitting still. Now is a great time to ask:

  • Is the car turning on and running like it should?
  • Do the batteries still hold a good charge after being stored?
  • Are the tires, wiring and controls still in good working order?
  • Does the car need a good spring cleaning?
  • Has your child developed new skills?

If something doesn’t seem quite right, we can help with repairs and tune-ups to get your child rolling safely and smoothly again. And, if your child is ready for new features or more space, give us a ring. We are glad to help.

Has your child outgrown the car?

Though we would love it if “our” kids could enjoy their Geeks for Kids cars forever, sometimes they outgrow them. We are always happy to refurbish those cars, rebuild them for another child and pay that gift forward.

Plus, we hope to soon get the next-generation of cars rolling off the production line. We just may have a new model for your child when s/he is ready for a bigger vehicle.

Don’t forget the road ahead

Before heading outside for that first spring ride, take a look at your surroundings. Winter can leave behind surprises:

  • Is the pavement clear of snow, ice and debris?
  • Are there new cracks, bumps or uneven spots?
  • Any obstacles that could make driving tricky?

A quick walk-through of your child’s favorite driving areas can help ensure a safer, more enjoyable ride all season long.

Spring is about fresh starts and that includes getting your child’s car … and cruising path … ready for new adventures. We are here to help you enjoy the road ahead.

Innovation Corner

Innovation is never just about technology — it’s about possibility.

Every adaptive car and device we build starts with a question: How can this create more independence for a child? And the best answers don’t come from one person or one team alone. They come from a community willing to imagine what’s possible — from parents who help us understand their kids’ needs, medical professionals who help us understand the problems our kids face, Super Geeks who help us envision new ways to apply technology, designers and artists who help us make those solutions more ergonomic and fun, and more. It takes a village.

That’s where you come in.

We are inviting you — and all thinkers, builders, engineers, parents, educators and dreamers who want to ensure that every child has a chance to be the best they can be — to help us envision the next generation of adaptive cars and devices.

  • What features would make mobility easier?
  • What designs could improve comfort, safety or accessibility?
  • What technology could help kids feel more in control?

No idea is too small or too bold. Sometimes the most powerful innovations start as simple “what if” questions. Whether you are inspired by cutting-edge technology, real-world experience or a child’s unique needs, we want to hear from you. Your ideas could help shape future builds and drive innovation that truly impacts kids with mobility challenges.

Let’s imagine together. Share your ideas, spark a conversation and help us design what comes next. Are you ready? Join us today.
